« One of the World greatest guitarist » RnR Vieux Farka Touré, often called the « Jimi Hendrix of the Sahara » is the son of world famous and Grammy Award winning Ali Farka Touré. His music is in many way the continuity of the path traced by his father. Vieux Farka Touré released his first album in 2007 and since then all of his 8 albums have reached the top 5 of the US and French charts. In 2010, Vieux Farka Touré and his Malian band performed at the Opening Celebration of FIFA World Cup along sides with Shakira and Alicia Keys. In 2011, his album « The Secret » featured John Scofield, Dave Matthews and Derek Trucks and includes collaboration tracks with his late father. « Africa’s guitar hero » (The Guardian) and Malian Bluesman has recently collaborated with Bombino (who’s performance in Liban Jazz is one of the greatest live experience we’ve had the chance to witness at MusicHall Waterfront few years ago). Their common project is called « Sons of the Sahara » and tours the World since the beginning of 2019. Vieux Farka Touré will be accompanied by his Malian musicians for this Desert Blues live celebration at MusicHall: « A raucous portrait of a well-drilled band on fire » (Mojo)
